Hi. I'm Gary Randall, and I live near Brightwood, Oregon; just a stone's throw from Mount Hood. As long as I can remember, I've loved Mount Hood, Mount Adams and the Columbia River Gorge. All of my travels have brought me back home, and home is Mount Hood.

I enjoy researching local history, and collect historic images and antique postcards from Mount Hood and the Columbia River Gorge. My interest in the local history has driven my involvement in the Mt Hood Cultural Center and Museum in Government Camp. Please stop in if you're ever in Government Camp.

I was voted the "Most Talented" in my senior class for my artistic ability, and have been practicing since. After a tour in the U.S. Navy I was trained in mechanical engineering and drafting. I feel that this allows me to be able to use my artistic eye coupled with a technical sense to create images that are thoughtfully planned and successfully executed. Working primarily with digital SLR cameras and shooting in a RAW format allows me to create a digital darkroom on my computer, making the final image appear as it did in my minds eye as I clicked the shutter.

Photography isn't my only artistic pursuit. I enjoy pen and ink, pencil, painting with acrylics and carving stone, such as marble or alabaster.

Hiking the trails around Mount Hood as well as yearly treks to Utah or Arizona's desert canyons have given me inspiration for many of my photographs. I'm also involved with the Midway Islands, through my Navy service, and maintain a web site and message forum for veterans and ex-residents of the island. Midway and the Hawaiian Islands are, of course, also two of my favorite places to photograph.
